Municipal Library in Przasnysz

Przasnysz Municipal Library is a public institution responsible for keeping more than 50,000 books and making them accessible to the inhabitants of this city. It also organizes concerts, technological workshops, book discussion clubs, language courses and other events thought with the aim of reaching all age groups.

There, two volunteers support the staff in the preparation and running the activities and take charge of the library’s social media channels (such as Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and YouTube). They are also invited to develop their own initiatives, especially if they add some intercultural dimension to the library program. Interest in Polish culture and literature is an important aspect.

Location

Przasnysz is a small town located about 100 kilometers north of Warsaw. It has a population of around 17,000 people and it a picturesque old town that volunteers will enjoy visiting.

Accommodation

The two volunteers share a flat located 15 minutes away from the library. It has a living room with an open kitchen, a bathroom and a shared bedroom.

Food

The volunteers can cook their own meals in the kitchen after having bought their groceries. To do that they will receive a food allowance of 150 euros per month.  

Transport

As Przasnysz is a small town, one can go everywhere by walking. To go to Warsaw, volunteers must take regional buses. The travel takes about 2 hours and 20 minutes and its price is not covered by the European Solidarity Corps.
