Cultural Center of Pomiechówek Commune

The Cultural Centre of Pomiechówek Commune (GOK) is an entity thought to promote the cultural dialog in this Mazovian town. Its aim is to reach out to different age and social groups with a diverse offer that includes painting and handicraft classes, theater workshops, language courses, yoga sessions and even martial art training.

There, the volunteer acts as a part of the team by supporting regular classes, events run by the Centre and intercultural and artistic activities proposed by the volunteer themselves. This person must be motivated to work with people of all ages (from small children to seniors) and able to work in an independent way. Being interested in activities such as art, music, dance and theater is also important.

Location

Pomiechówek is a small town located 25 kilometres north-west of Warsaw. It has a population of around 4,000 people and it is surrounded by beautiful forests and parks.

Accommodation

The volunteer shares the house with the one that is working in the Library of Pomiechówek and with the house owner, who lives on the first floor and has three dogs. The main entrance and the garden are shared with the owner, but the volunteers have their own rooms and a bathroom.

Food

The house has also a fully equipped kitchen, where the volunteers can cook their own meals after having bought their groceries. To do that they will receive a food allowance of 150 euros per month.

Transport

Workplace is located within walking distance of the house and from the center of the village. No public transport is required. To go to Warsaw, volunteers must take a train, but the cost of the travel is not covered by the European Solidarity Corps.

Previous volunteers said,

“We organized concerts, workshops, fairs and exhibitions, that’s why I hardly had any “regular” work. My tasks depended on the project that was going on at that moment. I couldn’t be happier with my project and all the people that I had the chance to meet during my time in Poland”.

Anna

Austria

“It was very easy to communicate with the director of the Centre, so we were both happy with my experience here. This also means that I could travel and manage my own experience, projects and goals.  It’s been great to work on my own work and life projects, as well as meeting great places and people".
